Course Details

Who Attends?

This programme is aimed at individuals who hold a red CPCS card and need to achieve the relevant NVQ in order to
convert to a Blue CPCS Competent Operator Card. For those who don’t follow the CPCS Scheme, the qualification can
be undertaken to underpin their competency in the role of Crane Supervisor.

The Aim?

In order to convert a CPCS Red Trained Plant Operator Card to a CPCS Blue Competent Operator Card, trained
operators must achieve a Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations.
As well as converting their card to a Blue Competent Operator Card, the candidate will also receive a nationally
recognised qualification which will be issued by our chosen awarding body. This proves that they have demonstrated their competency in the workplace.

Mandatory Units

Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships in the Workplace
Supervising Lifting Operations Using Lifting Equipment in the Workplace
Maintaining the Dimensional Accuracy of Work in the Workplace
Co-ordinating Preparation Work for Site or Lifting Operations in the Workplace
Allocating Work and Checking Peoples Performance in the Workplace
Maintaining Systems for Health, Safety and Welfare and Environmental Protection in the Workplace
Co-ordinating and Organising the Control of Work in the Workplace
Allocating and Monitoring the Use of Plant, Equipment or Machinery in the Workplace

Knowledge Requited

To achieve a total minimum score of 74 credits, candidates must successfully complete all eight mandatory units and gain a minimum of 46 credits to get a level 4 NVQ or above.

Methods Used

You will be assessed in the workplace through a number of assessment methods such as observations, professional discussions, witness testimonies, written questions, work generated evidence, etc.

On completion of your qualification you can apply for your CSCS Gold supervisors card through the CITB

Certification

On sucessful completion you will be awarded an SQA Accredited Certificate.
