Knowledge Requited
To achieve the qualification candidates must gather naturally occurring work based evidence which would include some
or all of the following:
– Time sheets provided by the operator which are signed by the operator and manager
– Daily/weekly plant checks signed by the operator and manager or fitter
– Method Statements/Risk Assessments specific to the operator
– Copies of CPCS card and any relevant training certificates
– Any other documentation which is agreed as being valid by the assessor and candidate
Once the candidate has gathered the above evidence and when they feel ready to be assessed, one of our assessors will visit them at work on-site and observe them carrying out their normal work activities. Once our assessor is satisfied that the candidate has provided sufficient evidence they will be passed for verification and certification.
Methods Used
Don’t miss a day’s pay by being assessed for an NVQ level on site, as you work. We send out an assessor to observe and ask questions during a typical day, and you will be judged on your knowledge, performance and experience.
Earning NVQ levels is really about knowing how to do job well and safely. Especially at the lower levels, as little as three years on the job experience is often enough to qualify you.
As you get up to the higher levels, study and revision at home of an evening becomes more and more important.
Additional Information
You will take this Level 2 NVQ qualification if you are currently employed or have previously been employed as a plant operator, and wish to demonstrate your ability to work safely and competently to a recognised national standard. You might also have experience or qualifications in construction and know you want to specialise in plant operations: the NVQ route provides flexibility in ways to demonstrate your practical skills and knowledge and have them assessed and recognised.
Once your qualification is complete a CPCS Blue Competent Operator card will be availible for you to apply for through the CITB.
