FAWR - First Aid at Work Requalification

Introduction

The First Aid at Work Requalification training course updates the first aid skills of those who need to renew their First Aid at Work certificate.

The HSE strongly recommends that you requalify within a month of your certificate expiring.

  • The role of the first aider
  • Managing an emergency
  • Communication and casualty care
  • Asthma
  • Bleeding (minor and severe)
  • Bone, muscle and joint injuries
  • Burns and scalds
  • Chest pains (including heart attack)
  • Choking (adult)
  • Eye injuries
  • Fainting
  • Head injuries
  • Health and safety (first aid) regulations
  • Low blood sugar
  • Poisoning
  • Resuscitation (adult CPR)
  • Seizures (adult)
  • Severe allergic shock reaction
  • Shock
  • Spinal injuries
  • Stroke
  • Unconscious casualty

Course duration

  • Two days training

Entry requirements

  • This requalification course is suitable for delegates approaching expiry on their existing First Aid at Work certificate

Assessment and exams

  • Delegates are assessed via continuous observation by the trainer and written assessments

Qualifications/certification

  • Successful delegates receive a certificate valid for three years.
